RWJBH facilities provide a healthy work environment which promotes the highest patient outcomes through the implementation of shared governance structures, rewards and recognition, nursing quality outcomes, and evidence based practice and Research. Magnet program leaders at each facility utilize magnet standards to promote excellence in nursing practice.
Magnet Designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), recognizes organizations for creating and sustaining an environment of nursing excellence where collaborative working relationships are fostered among different departments and disciplines. The journey to Magnet excellence enables organizations to support professional clinical practice, recognize excellence in the delivery of nursing services, and provides the structures necessary for the disseminating and implementing best practices.
The five components of Magnet include Transformational Leadership, Structural Empowerment, Exemplary Professional Practice, New Knowledge innovation and improvements and Empirical outcomes. The five components of Magnet provide essential standards to ensure nurses are valued, involved in research and evidence based activities, and engaged in lifelong learning.
