Whats Shaken with Seizures Description Information Whats Shaken with Seizures Seizures are a frequent problem confronting EMS personnel. Most seizures will terminate by themselves in less than five minutes. Careful attention must be paid to the ABCs, including glucose. Careful history-taking to look for possible causes of seizures, as well as a detailed description of the event, are invaluable to ED staff in the evaluation and treatment of a patient with a seizure. Patients with known epilepsy who have had a single typical seizure and are otherwise back to normal do not require transport to the hospital.

EVERYONE on the fire ground from the firefighter to the incident commander MUST know how to rapidly read smoke. Human Trafficking - An EMS Perspective Description Information Human Trafficking - An EMS Perspective Human trafficking is the use of force, fraud, coercion, or manipulation to get someone to provide labor, services, or commercial sex acts against their will. Traffickers use emotional manipulation and threats to control their victims in order to make money from their forced labor or commercial sex. As an EMS provider, you have an opportunity to offer support and compassion to someone trapped in this situation, where victims are often vulnerable populations like youth, homeless people, elderly people, foster children, immigrants, LGBTQ, people in poverty, or others. The program reviews: What human trafficking is, as well as the myths and misconceptions surrounding it The pervasiveness of human trafficking Common red flags to look for when responding to a call What EMS providers can do if they suspect human trafficking is occurring, and what tools or resources they can use to help the victim

EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator Course) Description Information EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator Course) This emergency vehicle operator course (Fire & EMS) is developed from the National Standard Department of Transportation Curriculum. This is a program that can be used in a variety of settings and organizations to meet fire apparatus and ambulance training needs. This course consists of instructor led training as well as a driving practice exercise. This course will challenge apparatus drivers from the novice to the experienced driver. New Jersey lights and sirens regulations will be covered in depth. This course is not designed for small apparatus, rather large vehicles such as full size ambulances, fire engines, aerial trucks, and heavy rescue vehicles. Students need to bring an apparatus the 2nd day of class or have arrangements made for the use of a vehicle. Prerequisites: Must have a valid Driver’s License

EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator Course) Description Information EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator Course) This emergency vehicle operator course (Fire & EMS) is developed from the National Standard Department of Transportation Curriculum. This is a program that can be used in a variety of settings and organizations to meet fire apparatus and ambulance training needs. This course consists of instructor led training as well as a driving practice exercise. This course will challenge apparatus drivers from the novice to the experienced driver. New Jersey lights and sirens regulations will be covered in depth. This course is not designed for small apparatus, rather large vehicles such as full size ambulances, fire engines, aerial trucks, and heavy rescue vehicles. Students need to bring an apparatus the 2nd day of class or have arrangements made for the use of a vehicle. Prerequisites: Must have a valid Driver’s License
