Enhanced Paramedic Training Description Information Enhanced Paramedic Training This 2-day course is to facilitate and proctor the video-based online training for the regional Enhanced Paramedic Program. Class will be held from 8:00-16:00 both days, with a 1-hour lunch period. Day 1 will be video-based lecture and a question-and-answer period. Day 2 will consist of completing the video-based portion and a hands-on practical in the afternoon. Attendance of both course days will allow you to take the online Enhanced Paramedic Training Completion Test. Attendance for the entire portion is mandatory for completion. You will be able to complete Day 1 and Day 2 in separate sessions if necessary. Please advise the Education Department at the start of the course. Continuing Education Credits will be provided. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to •Perform high-quality Child CPR AED and Infant CPR per AHA BLS recommendations •Differentiate between patients who do and do not require immediate intervention •Recognize cardiopulmonary arrest early and begin CPR within 10 seconds •Apply team dynamics •Differentiate between respiratory distress and failure •Perform early interventions for respiratory distress and failure •Differentiate between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock •Perform early interventions for the treatment of shock •Differentiate between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias •Describe clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias •Implement post–cardiac arrest management

This course can include the Basic Life Support (CPR) Renewal class as part of the course by selecting the Heartcode BLS course during registration. Testing for the Heatcode BLS will be done during class. The online portion of the Heartcode BLS MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE CLASS and a copy of the completion certificate brought to class. If the BLS class is chosen during registration, a key will be issued to the student through email. Students must be able to produce a valid PALS and BLS card at the start of class (or one that is not expired more than 60 days. Pre-course material must be completed before the class and will be emailed to the student.
