RISKY BUSINESS: Assessing and Predicting suicide Description Information RISKY BUSINESS: Assessing and Predicting suicide Attendees will learn how to use the Modified SAD Scale for the triage of potential suicide risk Objectives for training on the modified SAD Scale: At the conclusion of the training, EMTs and paramedics will : 1. Gain knowledge of the risk of imminent suicide risk in emergency patients 2. Learn techniques to better assess and respond to imminent suicide or self-harm risk in emergency patients 3. Learn how to administrate, interpret, and document the modified SAD Scale for assessing suicide/ self- harm risk.

Note: In Citrus County, we have a much higher rate of suicide than the rest of the State of Florida. The modified SAD Scale is designed for non-mental health professionals to use. The tool is a quick 10 questions which can be administered to assess and respond to suicide risk of patients. In the field, an EMT or Paramedic can quickly triage a patient when there is a psychiatric complaint, or known substance abuse history.

University of Florida Sponsored Stroke Education Description Information University of Florida Sponsored Stroke Education Description: This course reviews the etiology, epidemiology and evaluation of patients with AIS. The prevalence of AIS will be discussed, the success of endovascular therapy will be explored and the patient education key points are highlighted to help nurses and techs educate themselves, peers, patients about the risks and management of stroke. Highlights: • Importance of symptom recognition and the urgency related to timeliness in the management of AIS • AHA guidelines for endovascular treatment for AIS • Current early treatment options for AIS • Components of pre-hospital and hospital management of stroke • Stent retrievers used in intra-arterial endovascular therapy for AIS in appropriate populations *A flow model will be present for you to simulate the removal of a clot in the brain!*
