Defensive Tactics for EMS Description Information Defensive Tactics for EMS The objective of this course is to teach ambulance personnel ways to defend themselves so that they can safely exit a scene and call the proper authorities. The objective is not to teach them how to win an MMA fight, rather, it is to give them fundamentally sound ways to physically defend themselves so that they can retreat to safety as quickly and safely as possible. These learned skills will minimize injuries to pre-hospital providers and will also decrease injury to a combative subject.
